Hello doctors, I'm a 22 year old student. I have an addiction. Smoking. On a daily basis, I smoke 2 packs a day which is obviously way too much and unhealthy. Technically, I would say it all started years back to get rid of my stress and depression and subconsciously I got hooked to it. And now I can not go a day without having one. Realising its taking a toll on me. I tried several times to cut it off n tried quitting. Sought help frm internet and so on but still in vain. I know its a cliche and many people have been through this but i'd really appreciate if you could suggest me what would be the most practical n promising ways I could try to quit smoking. Withdrawals are intolerable. Thank You.

There are no health benefits of smoking. Smoking causes lung and oral cancer as well as interstitial lung disease. It affects peripheral blood vessels adversely and can cause respiratory and circulatory issues. It is advisable to quit immediately.�Consult a psychiatrist with experience in deaddiction. With the right medication and counseling it is likely that you will be able to quit smoking successfully.
