I am Diabetic last 10 yrs. Now taking 200 units of insulin. Weight 93 kg. Age 59. Doctor suggested to go bariatric surgery to bring down/eliminate sugar problem. Any alternative to control and reduce insulin qty.

Mr. lybrate-user, Bariatric surgery is usually advised when there is morbid obesity with a BMI of over 40 kgs/M2. Plus with that surgery diabetes can be well controlled may also go away provided the surgery is done within 5 years. At your weight (height is not mentioned) surgery is unlikely to be needed. There are other drug options like SGLT-2 inhibitors in addition to present treatment. Thanks.
