Hi, I am atul, 41 ys old. I got tested for vit -d, which is found to be low, 14.9 ng/ml. I got it tested 2 years back also when it was found to be around 32, but still doctor advised me vit D3 capsules of 60000 iu once per week for 4-5 months. I took it but vit D didn't increase much and went to 35. In between my medicine was also reduced to 2000 iu and also stopped in between for some time. Now I was taking it 1000 iu per day from last 2-3 months but still after taking medicine, it came too low today, 15 only. Report attached. So, I am surprised why it is not increasing when I have taken medicines also. I also have history of hypothyroidism and high lipids from last 10 years. I take 62.5 mcg Thyronorm daily and 5 mg rosulip from last 3 months. Lipids are in control now. Please suggest what I should do and whi h medicine to take to elevate vit D levels. I was told to take combination of vit D3 along with Vit K2. Please suggest. Thanks a lot. Atul.

Hello Sir, Ibis a little unclear when you had the last Vitamin D levels checked. Vitamin D is synthesized in the skin when the skin is exposed to sunlight. Vitamin D is present in the food in very small quantities. So the only way you could get a reasonable level of Vitamin D levels in your body is by exposing your body- that is the upper part of your body including arms and legs to sunlight for at least 45 min every day. As it is nearly summer season now, you can sit in the sun at around 9-10 am every day for about 45 min. Alternatively you can continue taking 1000 IU of vitamin D tablet every day. Your lipid levels would be abnormal if you have hypothyroidism, once he thyroid hormone levels are in normal range, the lipid levels will reduce too. You could even stop the Rosulip but check your lipid levels once a year. Hope this helps you Thank you.
