Infertility can be due to both male and female issues. Male issues can be anywhere starting from sperm production, their quality, their numbers, and their inability to reach the uterus where they can fertilize an egg. This could be due to erectile dysfunction, premature ejaculation, or poor sperm quality/quantity. The good news, however, is that male infertility can be easily treated; however, acceptance of this is a major issue.

As noted above, male infertility could be due to any reason from the production of sperm to the quality of sex life. Where required, ED and premature ejaculation could be due to a couple s incompatibility issues and these can be sorted out through counselling. Hormonal issues can be sorted via supplements, either topical or systemic. In very rare cases, if there are blocked sperm tubes, then surgery can be done to release them. Male infertility is quite a common cause for a couple to conceive, though it may not be easily accepted.

The causes could be varied, and often a good counselling session could help. In others, hormonal supplements may be required. Very rare cases require surgical intervention. Even options like in vitro fertilization are available which can be used to help the couple conceive. Accepting male infertility is not easy, and once accepted, the solutions can be worked out easily with advances in Medicine
Inability of a couple to conceive is usually due to the woman s infertility
5 of 5
Male infertility is equally responsible for a couple s inability to conceive. The poor sperm quality, reduced number, erectile dysfunction, premature ejaculation are all causes. In many cases, improving the quality of life with good food habits, exercise, reduced smoking, and alcohol abuse can lead to improved sex life and sperm quality. As a next step, counselling can help the couple understand the actual problem and work towards solution. A couple not able to have children should look at ruling out infertility from both the male and the female.
