A common signs of blurry, unclear and unfocused vision are linked to the diabetic retinopathy. It can affect one eye or both eyes due to onset of diabetic retinopathy that damages the retina of eyes and also known as sight-threatening disease. Blurry vision in a patient of diabetes making the objects appear out of focus and hazy, can be symptoms of more serious problems such as migraine and stroke other neurological disorders. This symptom is also connected with eye herpes or optic neuritis and detached retina.
Fluctuating vision
Diabetic retinopathy is a condition basically a diabetes complication where a person is experiencing frequent changes in clarity of vision. This condition has characteristics in which vision is sharper and clearer at particular time as compared to normal vision. For example, a person may have good or bad vision days or may face differences in quality of vision in morning and evening. This is a very common symptom of diabetic retinopathy as there is a fluctuation in levels of blood sugar in patient suffering from diabetes.
Impaired color vision
Impaired color vision is also called as color deficiency where a person is unable to distinguish between certain shades of color. In this condition, retina is damaged along with the cones present on it due to blockage of tiny vessels of eyes reducing the blood flow to it. These cones are color sensing pigments in eyes and if harmed, a person cannot differentiate between particular shades of red and green (most common) as well as blues and yellows (less common). This symptom is diagnosed after physical examination and left untreated can lead to complete blindness.
Dark or empty areas in your vision
There is an appearance of empty, dark and distorted areas in the center of vision is a condition known as Age related macular degradation where macula, part of retina is impaired. In such problem, central part of vision is damaged because of hemorrhage in the blood vessels of light-sensitive tissues in the back of eyes causing a blind spot in the middle of person’s field vision. diagnosis and regular eye examinations can help in coping up with certain problems and can preserve good vision throughout life.
Vision loss
Diabetic retinopathy is a disorder that does not show any symptoms in its stages but a person notice the symptoms when it gets worse. A person suffering from diabetes is advised to go for regular eye examinations for diagnosis of any diabetes related eye diseases and in many cases person may have already incurred some vision loss before he visits to doctor and starts treatment. Mild, moderate, acute non-proliferative and proliferative are four stages of diabetes retinopathy from which if a person starts treatment of DN in stages then there may be a chance of saving vision and occurrence of permanent blindness upto by 95%.
