Benefits of yoga for weight gain

The philosophy of yoga supports the ideology of optimum body weight. If people think that yoga is all about meditation and stretching then they are in for a pleasant surprise as yoga provides the most natural way of gaining weight without consuming any supplements. A person cannot attain a healthy body without having a healthy mind. The yoga asanas for weight gain provide optimum results in the simplest way.

There are a number of factors which are alleviated through yoga that help a person in gaining the optimum weight. The factors which restrict the gaining of weight in a person include improper diet, poor metabolism problems, and issues related to digestion and appetite. Other factors like laziness and hormonal issues are also alleviated through yoga. The asanas of yoga provide assistance in weight gain by strengthening the abdominal muscles. Yoga also improves the digestion of a person which leads to an increase in the appetite of a person. The metabolic activities of the body are also strengthened by doing regular yoga. The digestive system is boosted through yoga by reducing bloating and constipation and eliminating gas. Yoga helps in weight gain by helping the body in absorbing essential nutrients. Cobra Pose

This pose works on your digestive system. It regulates metabolism and improves the appetite. Start by lying on your stomach and keep your legs straight. Place your elbows on the ground at shoulder width. Now raise your upper body off the floor, while keeping the elbows grounded. Make sure that your head and neck is perpendicular to the feet. Inhale and exhale at regular intervals. This is great for nutrient absorption and blood circulation.

Wind Relieving Pose

This is one of the simplest yoga postures that helps stimulate and regulate the digestive system. Start by lying flat on your back. Fold your knees bring them close to your chest. Wrap your arms around your knees and hug them tight. Now raise your head slowly off the floor to place your nose between the knees. Stay in this position for a while as you breathe in and out.

Thunderbolt Pose

You can practice this pose after having your meal. It improves your digestive system and keeps your metabolism in check. Sit with your legs folded in such a way that your hips rest on the heels of both legs. Keep your spine straight and place both hands on the upper thigh region. Take deep breaths as you hold the position for 30 seconds.

Fish Pose

This yoga pose is highly beneficial for weight gain. This helps regulate the overactive thyroid gland which causes weight loss. It also strengthens your digestive system by improving nutrient absorption and metabolism. Sit with your legs folded and crossed over one another. Slowly lean backwards and curve your back gently so that the back of your head or crown rests on the floor. Keep your hands under the buttocks for better support. Stay in this position for a few seconds before you get back to your previous position.

Yoga can only provide means to improve the digestive system, metabolism, and appetite but for gaining appropriate weight a person needs to incorporate some healthy foods to their diet to support yoga for weight gain. Deficiency of Vitamin B can lead to an improper metabolism rate in a person thus foods rich in vitamin B must be incorporated in the diet for instance eggs, seafood, fruits like bananas and apples.

A person must incorporate the most important nutrient for weight gain which is protein. Foods which are rich in protein include legumes, pulses, and meat. Energy-dense food also helps the body of a person in gaining an ideal weight. Some of the energy-dense food which can be included in the diet of a person is nuts like walnuts and almonds, yogurt, and whole grains like oats. Foods rich in carbohydrate and fat must also be incorporated in the diet but in a restricted manner as overindulgence on carbohydrate and fat can make a person obese rather than gaining ideal weight. Coupling yoga with a healthy diet is the key to gain weight naturally.
