Sir/Mam, I am a student and pursuing B.tech.I want to quit smoking as I wanted to make a career in bodybuilding, but the reason why I continuously fail to quit this habit after making commitment is mainly due to the following reasons:- 1.**Smoker friends say that smoking 1-2 cigrate in a weekly basis or smoking socially has negligible effect on health.** 2.**When I concentrate on bodybuilding and think smoking could effect my stamina and strength. But on the contrary I see famous personalities like ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER, SYLVESTER STALLONE ,etc are smoking and still have such good physique .by all these thinking my mind gets confused and I think. It's fine to smoke as many people who smoke are yet successful in various fields.** ##SO SERIOUSLY HELP ME OUT WHAT TO DO I REALLY DON'T KNOW WHETHER IT IS GOOD TO RELY ON SUCH FACTS AND DO SMOKE#. HOPING AND EAGERLY WAITING FOR YOUR REPLY.

Dear Rajeev, "Smoking is injurious to health" is the warning given on each pack of cigarettes. There is no doubt about it. Nicotine in cigarettes is a stimulant that gives instant energy and increases the performance. That is why many who started smoking could not give up. For each smoker personalities there are 100s non smoker personalities who are famous. You can not go on anecdotal examples. You have to think in statistical terms. Congratulations for deciding to quit smoking. If you can avoid your smoker friends and smoking environment for 12 weeks continuously, you will be able to stick to your commitment. It is difficult = but not impossible. In a passive smoking environment your motivation to quit smoking goes down to a very low level confusing you. Try hard to find friends who don't smoke and who go for body building. Join with them for 3-6 months not only physically even virtually. Quitting smoking has many health benefits apart from body building. It increases your breathing capacity and protects your heart with tough exercises. All the best.
