I am 64 years old may be due to lactose intolerance or allergy to milk protien have not been able to relish milk products like yogurt, buttermilk for over a year etc that would restore healthy bacteria in my gut and lack of it seems to have affected my digestion and overall health. How do I rectify this deficiency and get the required probiotics for good gut health.

Lactose intolerance does not call for avoiding curd or buttermilk. They can be had. You can replace milk with soy or almond milk. Also, more than often after a period of time you can take about a cup or so of milk in distributed amounts in custards or phirnis etc and it won't cause much irritation. If even cutd seems to cause discomfort you can add probiotics through fermented foods sprouts or probiotic supplements available in the pharmacy.
