Dear Lybrate user, I can fully understand the social impact that bad breath can cause. Bad breath can be due to several reasons where 90% of the times, it is due to an unclean tongue. Pay special attention towards cleaning your tongue while brushing. Since you're already done with scaling, you have to follow some maintenance tips now. Rinse your mouth after every meal. At times, the teeth alignment is such that it causes food particles to remain stuck between teeth for a long time. Rinsing will help you get rid of extra food particles. Make a habit to floss after every meal. Go to you tube and watch some flossing videos for a demonstration. It is the best and most effective way to keep your mouth clean. Sadly, it is not recommended much by dentists routinely. Less salivary secretion can also cause bad breath. Chewing sugarfree gums like orbit after meals will help. Saunf (fennel), mint leaves (pudina) are natural breath fresheners. Keep yourself hydrated, consume plenty of water as it helps the body to get rid of bacteria and toxins. Avoid onions and garlic in your meals. Maintain a healthy diet, consume more fibre/salads, foods rich in vitamin. Don't use your mouthwash beyond 15 days. Some medicines and underlying liver or kidney conditions also cause bad breath so consult your general physician too. Don't worry, hope these tips help.
