Hi, My father's tsh level is 91. Two months ago it was 9. He is being given methimez tab since last six months when it was hyperthyroidism. Now even after high levels of tsh, doctor only decreased the dose from 10 mg to 5 mg. My question is if it is hypothyroidism now, then why methimez are still continued which is used for hyperthyroidism? Shouldn't he be given treatment of hypothyroidism now by stopping methimez tab?

You are right logically but your doctor's openion must be having some logic too. Please discuss with him and if not satisfied take second openion from an Endocrinologist.
