Doctor which of the following foods or breakfasts are simple carbohydrates & complex carbohydrates Idli, Wada, Thick poha, vermicelli semiya, UPMA dish made from bombay ravva, poori,mysore bonda, Dosa,uttapam, I usually have any one of the above as breakfast in the morning, please mention whether the above sources are simple or complex carbohydrates separately, I am vegetarian, Doctor can you please mention some complex carbohydrate food sources for breakfast in the morning other than eggs or chapati and some food list to maintain balance blood sugar and foods that doesn't cause insulin spikes. Mr. lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. All the food items made from whole grain flour without removing fiber are complex carbs. Maida is a simple carb, should be avoided. Idli, has a fairly high glycemic index. Vada, is high in calories being a fried item. Poha is comparatively a simple carb. Thanks.
