Its hypothyroidism. Salt is not going to help.

Hello, Thanks for the query. Tsh 12.37 mu/l shows that present dosage of levothyroxine being taken is not adequate. When adequate dosage is taken tsh is maintained around 3 to 4 mu/l, at which all the symptoms of hypothyroidism are in control. So it is clear that there is a need to increase the dosage of levothyroxine by 12.5 to 25 mcg per day. Then check tsh after 6 weeks to see if desired level is reached. Thanks.

Hi Ms. lybrate-user, looking at the levels of tsh higher than normal levels, the condition is called as hypothyroidism. If you are currently taking thyronorm 50 mcg and the level of tsh is 12.37 you need to consult your physician to adjust the dosage of your thyronorm. Iodine is an essential mineral which is required to make thyroid hormones, so iodised salt can be useful in cases of hypothyroid where there is iodine deficiency.
