Hello. My daughter is 3 and half year old. She is quite hyperactive. So the doctor prescribed axepta 10 mg for it. I want to know whether we can give axepta for under 6 year old. She has already taken occupational therapy for 1 year but nothing much has changed. Her hyperactiveness didn't reduce.

It's better to do a psychometric test to rule out adhd (attention deficit & hyperactive disorder) before starting any medication.

You can treat your daughter's symptoms of hyperactivity yourself. Get your child into a therapy, implement a better diet and exercise plan and modify your home environment to minimize home distractions. After receiving a diagnosis of adhd then work with your child's doctor, therapist and school to make a personalised treatment plan that meets her specific needs. Medication is never a sole treatment option available that too of such a young girl.

Usually they wait till 6 years of age for the medications to be given. However in severe hyperactivity, some clinicans start them early. Giving OT is good, mostly the ADHD symptoms will resolve with time, you can make a choice of waiting till 5-6 years before starting on medication, if you can manage. All the best.
