Hi, I have multiple gallstones (size of ~3 mm). I am experiencing heaviness and pressure below sternum, at my upper back, around my chest (specially the left one) and below my left and right ribs since 4-5 months. I am on pantoprazole and bland diet since then but it's not helping. A month ago, I had a very intense pain in my entire abdomen (including left, right and center upper and lower abdomen) after having fatty food. This pain episode lasted for 4-5 hours and it was so severe that I was unable to breathe. I went to doctor's office and they prescribed for ultrasound. In ultrasound, again gallstones were detected. After this pain, I started experiencing nausea and vomiting for next 2-3 weeks. Just curious to know are all the symptoms which I mentioned earlier related to gallstones or something else and what should I do now.

Yes all your symptoms related to gall stones. It will be better if you get a lft (liver function test) done. Sometimes small stones from gall bladder slip into common bile duct (cbd) which joins small intestine thus causing severe pain and jaundice. So it is better to get operated for laproscopic cholecystectomy to avoid such complications. Do not delay. Get a liver function test done and get operated for gallstones.

Hello small multiple gall stones usually cause recurrent pain and vomiting (billiary colics) making ones life miserable. Besides they can slip down into the cystic duct and cbd leading to various complications like jaundice, pancreatitis, cholecystitis etc. Majority of your symptoms are due to gall stones. So I suggest better to consult a good lap surgeon and get a laparoscopic cholecystectomy done at the earliest. Regards.
