I am suffering from hypothyroidism since the past 10 years and currently on 150 mg thyronorm. My tsh was 9.9 in November 2020 due to which my dosage was increased from 100 mg to 150g. But since then I have put on 10 kgs of weight. Is my dosage wrong? Does overdosage leads to weight gain?

overdose or correct dose is not the cause of weight gain.It is either increased calory intake or reduced physical activity. To assess the acuracy of dose get your TSH done.

Hello, Thanks for the query. Madam, I have seen the details. Over dosage of Levothyroxine in fact can lead to a situation where TSH will go very low and a medically induced Hyperthyroidism will develop, where the person is likely to loose weight. So please check your current tSH to see if it is well controlled (3 to 4 mU/L), if not then that will need further dosage adjustment. If you have any questions please do come back. Thanks.
