If it's disc bulge, nothing much to worry. Needs physiotherapy and weight loss. Regular excersize will help. Sensation deficit which is mainly tingling takes time to get better. Carry on doing what you can do. Medication will help only temporary.

Hello lybrate-user disc protrusion usually resolves over a period of time as disc dehydrates. However if pain increases or disc protrusion happens then you may feel sudden increase in pain it is radiating to lower limb. Sudden increase will also resolve in time if you can manage to live with the pain for that time. Medicine might help you to go through the painful period. Most people who cannot bear pain will undergo surgery. Avoidance of surgery will require steroid infusion for resolution of pain. High dose of steroids will have its own complications, which could be in the form of of avascular necrosis of femoral head. Keeping everything in mind you can go ahead with conservative management of disc if it happens. Change in lifestyle and not challenging your disc much will be needed on your part.

Thank you for contacting. Majority of disc protrusions may heal on their own by body's healing systems. However if the pain has been persisting for more than 1 months, some definitive interventions need to be done. Options under interventional pain management include epidural injections, biaculoplasty. These are day care procedures, can be completed within an hour and patient can be discharged the same day after a period of 2 hours of observation.
