Hi doctor I am having hypothyroidism my tsh - 9.started taking thyroxine (thyronorm) 50 mg .age 27 my hemoglobin- 7.can I take beetroot and carrot juice.

You can take the juices but a careful search for your extremely low hemoglobin needs to be investigated. It could be due to problems with your bowels, blood or nutrition, or other medications or kidney problems. I would suggest you to deal your low hb first with the right investigation, medications and advice.

lybrate-user ji, thanks for the query. Beet root and carrots can be taken by a person with hypothyroidism. Since you are on treatment for hypothyroidism, please remember in a well controlled hypothyroidism tsh needs to be maintained around 3 to 4 mu/l, at which level all the symptoms of the disease are in check. Another important aspect to be kept in mind is that for a lady desiring to have a pregnancy tsh needs to be maintained < 2.5 mu/l. Thanks.
