I have auto-immune hypothyroidism, should everyone with this condition avoid milk and milk products, soybean, gluten and caffeine? Or should I get an allergy test done to know which food to avoid with my hashimoto's? I want to reverse my condition without levothyroxine.

lybrate-user ji, thanks for the query. In persons having lactose intolerance with hashimoto's thyroiditis milk products are avoided as that condition may affect levothyroxine absorption. Otherwise there is no contraindication. So if you have no such issue then taking milk products is good. But most importan is to maintain tsh with in the specified limits like 3 to 4 mu/l, so that hypothyroidism is well controlled. Thanks.
