Alignment can be done without extraction only if there is required amount of space present prior to start of treatment, but if there is no gap between teeth and malalignment is present then one may require extraction of few teeth. Orthodontists plan your treatment according to space present and required and after detailed analysis on models made from your teeth. So be fearless for missing out on few teeth which you will not miss after complete treatment and alignment into smart looking dental arches and these days extractions have become painless procedures with increasing technology and procedures although some pressure might be felt during extraction but it is completely normal. Happy smiling!
