Your father may require glaucoma valve surgery to control raised IOP which probably is causing pain. Vision lost due to glaucoma is lost forever but whatever vision is there, that will remain intact if eye pressure remains under control.

Glaucoma is a group of disorders which causes damage to optic nerve. What damage has occurred can't be recovered. The aim of treatment is to preserve as much of the optic nerve and vision as we can. Every eye surgery results in some inflammation and some pain- this varies according to eye risk factors and patients body reactions and his threshold for pain. Its just been one week postoperative. .Please be patient and have faith in the treating doctor. The post op course is very variable and takes a while for eye pressure to stabilise. A close follow up and compliance as recommended is very important-
