My grandfather is a 76 years old male. 10 days ago he was affected by an ischemic stroke at the right side of his brain .But now the doctors found an infraction at the right side and also found the infraction to be spreading towards the left. Doctors are suggesting for a surgery .Is that needed for his healthy recovery?

If the doctors have suggested surgery it is mos likely that the stroke is causing brain swelling and the resultant increase in pressure is causing threat to life. Surgery is therefore life saving. Unfortunately it has no implication on physical recovery since that is dependent on the size of the stroke and part of the brain that is affected.
