Hi lybrate-user. Using chemicals like baking soda on your teeth on a regular basis may not be a safe option. These agents might give a transient whitening effect to your teeth, but they do so by a chemical reaction with the surface of the teeth that eventually might lead to a loss of the strong enamel layer of the teeth. This would cause a permanent loss of the colour and shine of the teeth leaving them looking dull and discoloured, and also a chronic and difficult and expensive to handle sensitivity in the affected teeth. It is much safer to see a dentist and let them evaluate the stains that you are worried about. Most often they can be easily eliminated by a professional cleaning of the teeth. If the stains represent decay, the teeth can be filled. My advise to you: 1. Do not use baking soda or any other chemical over your teeth except upon the advise of your dentist, and, 2. See your dentist for a diagnosis of the underlying cause of your problem. Thereafter, you can discuss the options available to you and select the appropriate treatment that best meets your needs. Baking soda is okay if used occassionally, but it's not a permanent solution to remove stains. Stains can be of various types. You should go to your dentist. May be a professional cleaning is required.

It is slightly abrasive and if used repeatedly over time it can weaken tooth enamel, making your teeth more sensitive and vulnerable to dental cavities. Baking soda on its own does not kill the bacteria in the mouth that cause cavities and tooth decay. It doesn?t contain fluoride, which helps remineralize tooth enamel and prevent cavities. It can cause a burning sensation in the mouth.

Hello, baking soda should not be used for cleaning purpose. You can use flouridated tooth paste for cleaning your teeth and baking soda water rinses once in a week. To get rid from stains you get it done scaling from near by dentist.

If you have habits like taking tea, coffee often or smoking habits, paan chewing can cause stains. Kindly quit these habits if you have so. Stains could be removed by dentist either by scaling or bleaching technique. It is not advisable to use baking soda because it could harm the gums slowly. Kindly visit a dentist in person.
