I am a 21 year female. I have hashimoto thyroiditis diagnosed few weeks ago. I am not taking any medication yet. Yesterday I noticed sort of malar flush on my face and today in morning I also had periorbital edema, mild. I am scared if I also have SLE as autoimmune diseases often are related. How will it be diagnosed as autoantibodies also come positive in hashimoto as well?

lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. Hashimoto's Thyroiditis (HT) leads to hypothyroidism, which in turn leads to swelling of face and legs. Even periorbital swelling is a possibility. Just because of one such symptom why should yo be thinking about SLE is difficult to understand. If you have HT, and symptoms of hypothyroidism then please start necessary treatment to control those. Do not worry about some condition which is not there. Going through Google is not going to help. Thanks.
