Hello doctor, I had my RCT done 7 months ago and fixed a crown but recently my crown started to come out my dentist said that my gap to fit the crown in my teeth is very low and recommended to cut my gums in order to make space for my crown. Is it necessary? Or if I replace my crown to zerconeon and any stronger cement will my crown stick stronger without cutting my gum? I am scared to do crown lengthening. Is there any other minor corrections to be done in order to fix my crown stronger than cutting my gums please help. Thank you.

The retention of crown doesn’t depend on any cement or material crown is made of It depends on surface area , parallelism etc of tooth For short teeth there is something called endocrowns But now your tooth is already cut to receive a crown So decision will depend on actual scenario

Crown lengthening is only done to increase the height of the tooth .. so that sustainability of crown is better .. kindly get it done considering your front tooth .. as after this replacement of tooth would be either a bridge or an implant surgery .... kindly get it done don't be scared all will be well ..replacement of natural teeth is more expensive then taking care of what you have ..go ahead and get it done ..all the best ...
