Asked for Male, 22 Years Diagnosed with chickenpox 3 days ago. Rashes appeared 3 days ago. I have swollen lymph nodes behind both the ears felt as two pea sized mass arranged above downwards. I have noticed it 4 days back and its still present. Should I be worried? I have no itching at all. No pain, fever or progress of red spot like macules to vesicles to burst. I mean red papules that got swollen on first are even got flat and many can't even seen. Am I still infectious? I am vaccinated in childhood. Is it the reason why it is mild? Please answer each question. Thanks in advance. Started medicine on the day rashes appeared-valacyclovir, gabapentin, cefixime, aceclofenac paracetamol. Lymph nodes are still swollen.

Hello, Thanks for the query. Chicken pox a viaral infection is self limiting. There is really no treatment for that. If there is very high fever one may need antipyretics like paracetamol. Antiviral drugs are not at all required. The lesions appear in crop and in about 12 hours dry up. Person remains infectious for a few days when lesions are drying. Taking drugs like gabapentine is absolutely unnecessary. Cefixime has no role at all as it is an antibiotic. Intake of enough liquids is important along with proper nutrition. Recovery is uneventful. Usually this infection tends to be more severe in adults compared to children. If it is mild, then it is good. Thanks.
