Hello, Thanks for your query on Lybrate "As" per your clinical history is concerned please check your TSH report as it is not clear what you have mentioned so if it is increased then discuss with your treating Doctor to increase the dose. Do follow lifestyle modifications like this - Try to avoid Iron supplements, Cholestyramine, Aluminum hydroxide, which is found in some antacids and Calcium supplements as you are taking Eltroxin-50. Some diet suggestions for hypothyroidism include: 1) Take foods high in Omega 3 and Omega 6 fatty acids such as leafy green vegetables, salmon, nuts, seeds, and shrimp etc. 2) Drink plenty of fluids throughout the day. Water and green tea can be sipped on in between meals to prevent dehydration. 3) Take Iodine rich foods such as seaweed regularly. 4) Foods such as broccoli, cauliflower, soy, beans, and spinach can actually slow down the functioning of the thyroid so they should be eaten in small quantities. 5) Try to avoid artificial sweeteners, caffeine, dairy, and alcohol when on a diet for hypothyroidism. 6) Do take a multivitamin caps Rejuvit Plus once a day at bedtime. 7) There are a number of specific yoga asanas or postures that can stimulate your thyroid and pituitary glands and increase the level of hormone production. Yoga poses such as the Sun Salutation, the Dead Mans pose, the Wind-Relieving pose, Head to Knee Pose, the Fish pose and the breathing techniques are vital for providing energy, improving blood circulation and relaxing the nervous system along with improving the functioning of the thyroid gland. Hope that helps.

Mr. lybrate-user Thanks for the query. When TSH is well controlled, (around 3 to 4 mU/L) all the symptoms of hypothyroidism are in check, including body weight increase. TSH value is in mU/L, it is not in %. So please let me know the exact value. Secondly does she exercise regularly and does she take a restricted diet based on her ideal body weight not on present one? If TSH is well controlled then weight reducing efforts will succeed. Thanks.
