My sister has hypothyroidism. She used thyronorm 75 mcg for a year. When tested 2 months ago tsh was 6.5 and the doctor prescribed thyronorm 88 mcg. Now When she was tested after 2 months tsh was 7.5. What should she do?

Hello, Thanks for the query. WHen a person is on adequate dose of Levothyroxine, TSH is maintained around 3 to 4 mU/L, at that level there are no symptoms of that condition. So if TSH is higher than above mentioned numbers, then there is a need to increase the dose further by 12.5 mcg, then check TSH again after 6 weeks, to see if desired levels is attained. This (increasing the dose) needs to be done till desired levels are attained. Thanks.
