My son 9 years old fell down in a movie theater and crashed into floor and lost one his permanent front teeth in his upper jaw. His first aid was administered at a nearby and was referred to a dentist nearby for dental help where while taking the x ray his other adjcant front tooth also feel down and was said it could not be reinserted. Right now we have put some plastic teeth and glued to his adjoining teeth which are also not stable. I would like to the following 1. Is there any option for implant or transplant 2. Short term and long term consequences of not having his front permanent teeth.

Yes there is an option for implant .. but after all his permanent teeth come out .. may be by the age of 16 to 18 you can decide for implant s .. in that region ..by that time the arches will also grow ... And his other teeth will take its position .. as well .. meanwhile ... Let the teeth be in position ..whatever has been placed for some time .. if it falls you can get it fixed back .. or else you can work on a temporary Maryland bridge .. so that child does not feel awkward with no front teeth .. at such a young age ..as Maryland is temporary option you can work with it for some years ... I would strictly avoid a bridge .. that too from canine to canine .. as the age is too small .. and cutting those young permanent teeth is not an option .. that to at age of 9..I hope you would understand what I wrote...for you ..Â

Yes implants can be done but it depends on the age of the child. Implant will be the best treatment option for your child. If age permits. Just go for it. Â

It is very unfortunate that The avulsed teeth could not be put back and saved. Putting implants at the lost teeth site is the only best option in your case. If the extraction site is not restored with implants there is going to be extensive bone loss in the area of extraction site .since the child is only 9 years old there is going to be major bone loss over a period of time. The other options for restoring The lost teeth can be placing her Bridge using the support of adjacent teeth but it is not a conservative approach. Rest the best option for restoring the lost teeth can be evaluated by a experienced doctor after inspecting the site. Â

Considering your son's age I would suggest you to go for bridge though implants are best at present. Why because he is just 9 years old and any modern implant survive for 20-25 years approximately with the technology of present time. A well crafted and matched dental bridge will last longer with less time and less mental trauma to your son. In future say after 10-15 years from now, he can choose better things. Â

To late for transplant. Considering the age, implants are not possible Right now. Get the broken teeth filled and removable acrylic teeth for the lost tooth. Front teeth are important for the looks and ability to bite on food. Â
