Hey lybrate-user Raw egg whites may also reduce the absorption of biotin. Egg whites contain high levels of avidin, a protein that binds biotin strongly. When egg white is cooked, avidin is partially denatured and binding to biotin is reduced. Daily requirement of biotin is low (unless you have genetic disorder affecting biotin synthesis ). Many foods provide adequate amounts of biotin plus you are current taking a high dose of biotin supplement. Also your intestinal bacteria synthesize small amounts of biotin, and the body effectively scavenges and recycles biotin from bodily waste. Hence cooked egg white is safer to consume (assuming you do not have genetic disorder affecting biotin synthesis).
