My age is 48 and weight is 66, my blood sugar average fasting is 190 and pp is 230. I am taking melmet 500 sr twice. Does diabetic medicine harm kidney.

Uncontrolled diabetes harms kidneys more than any medicines which may be changed if any side effect is noted. Your diabetes not controlled hence need more attention. Control your diet strictly. Execrcise regularly. Consult your doctor to increase medicines.

Hello, Thanks for the query. It is the high blood glucose that harms kidney more because a lot of persons with diabetes develop severe kidney disease leading to kidney failure. The drugs used to treat diabetes actually protect kidneys from getting damaged. Thanks.
