Since it is an antibiotic, it needs to be prescribed by a doctor (note that it is given if there are signs of any particular infection ). Is your wife diabetic?? If she is you will have to take care till the wound heals Megaclox is an antibiotic meant to prevent the infection in the wound.Once the infection is controlled the swelling will come down. But for her pain better to have an anti inflammatory tablet
