I am 60 year old man. Very active and fit with strict diet and exercise. I am on bp tablet for almost 15 years now and I was prescribed losar a. But my systolic was always high, around 140 and 150, while my diastolic was always under control 80 and below. When I consulted my doctor he prescribed betaloc 25 mg to be taken in the night. I am taking this also everyday. I am also on glycomet 250 mg twice a day. My kidney functions have also been normal. But my systolic has never come down despite me being quite fit. Also, there is swelling in my ankles and feet which I was told was because of losar a medication. Do you think I should change my medication? If yes can you please suggest?

Since you are already on two medications, it is better to get evaluated fully before changing the medication. 1. Your ankle swelling could be due to betaloc 2. You require a fresh ecg and echo test 2 depending on these results your cardiologist will. Be able to decide whether your medication. Needs to be changed.
