Hi doc, I was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism issue. Right now I am not on thyroid medicines as t3, t4 and tsh is not with in the normal range but for hbp and heart palpitations doc gave me metolar xr25. Previously it was 50 but after improvement in health it reduced to xr25 now daily after taking breakfast I am feeling heart palpitations. Some times I am afraid to have breakfast. Kindly suggest me the what to do or to whom I have to get checkup {suggest specialty}

Hello, thanks for the query. I have seen the details given, where there is no mention of current or very recent t3, t4 & tsh levels. Main reason for palpitation is increased t4 (thyroxine secretion) activity from the thyroid gland. So unless that is controlled only taking a beta blocker is not going to be beneficial. You may ask your physician about it or come back with specific details. Then I can be of help. Thanks.
