I am suffering from htn, dm-2 for the last about 10 yrs. I am taking metformin 1000 mg bd, ramipril 10 mg bd and my conditions are under control. My ecg is normal and have no heart problem. My age is 62 yrs. Dr. has also prescribed atrovastin10 mg hs and ecosprin .75 mg hs even though my lipid profile values are normal. Tell me is atrovastin10 mg and ecosprin .75 mg required to be taken? If yes then reasons and what are the advantages? I am also suffering from bipolar disorder and taking medicines for that.

First off, thank you for the detail in your post on this online forum. It seems like you have had t2dm and htn for about 10 years now and you are taking medications for the same. You are also following up for both these conditions and you seem to know that they are under control. It is also great to hear that your ecg is normal and you have no heart problem at your age. The prescription of atorvastatin is questionable since your lipid profile is normal, however ecosprin is a medication which is more of a preventive strategy in cardiovascular diseases that are commonly associated with chronic medical conditions especially diabetes and hypertension. The fact that you have bipolar disorder does not make any difference in your medical treatment as long as you are stable with regards to your bipolar symptoms are a having a good lifestyle.
