I'm a 23 years old female. Was diagnosed with hypothyroidism in july 2018 and has been taking thyronorm 25 mcg since then. My tsh levels have gone from (initially, when diagnosed) 8.4 to 3.1 to 7.07 to 6.40 (recent) in the lab checks. I want to switch from this allopathy medicine to a homeopathic treatment for the same. Is it possible? How effective would the homeopathic medicine be? Will this changing medicine have any drastic side effects?

Hello, Thanks for the query. Hypothyroidism is a hormone (Thyroxine) deficiency disorder. This is an essential hormone for multiple metabolic functions and normal functioning of brain. Hence needs to be made available every day. Since your thyroid is not meeting the requirement, it has to be supplemented from outside every day for lifetime. There is no other treatment. Levothyroxine given is the synthetic form of the hormone. So called other systems have no such medication, so there is no alternative treatment. It is essential to maintain TSH around 3 to 4 mU/L to be free from all the symptoms of hypothyroidism. I hope things are clear to you. If you have any questions please do come back. Thanks.
