I am 90 kgs and 34 year old female mother of a 4 year old girl child. I have hypothyroidism and I take 100 mcg thyroxine regularly. My endocrinologist has suggested reeshape orlistat capsules 120 mg because I am obese. Kindly suggest if this medicine is safe to take and doesn't have any side effects.

Every medicine has side effects if it has effects. Take medicines as advised by your treating physician after your clinical evaluation. He must have prescribed you medicines for obesity considering diet control and exercise are not showing results. If you observe something wrong after taking medicine please contact him.

Hello, Thanks for the query. I have seen the details and understand your concern. Since you have hypothyroidism, it is possible that if TSH is not well controlled then obesity may develop. There is no mention of your TSH, T3 & T4 levels. It is necessary to know those. What is your height? It is necessary to know or calculate BMI (Body Mass Index). As regards taking tablet Reshape or Orlistat, it hardly helps in Indian diet as our overall intake of fats is not too high. On the contrary if you take a properly planned restricted diet and do regular exercise preferably under the guidance of a professional instructor, that will be much better. Even if you plan a reduction of 5 to 8% of weight that will help a great deal. If you have any questions please do come back. Thanks.
