Hi, my wife has ankylosing spondylitis she is taking hydroxychloroquine I hope hcq drug doesn't have side effects like severe mental problems n hallucinations.

Hi lybrate-user first of all ankylosing spondylitis is very uncommon in females. However, presuming your diagnosis is correct, hydroxychloroquine is not a very good drug for the same. And there are other better alternative therapies available for the same. Now coming to your question, hcq is not expected to cause mental problems or hallucinations if taken in appropriate dose.

Hello. Don't worry hcq is not known to cause severe psychological problems. However drug interactions with other medications can be causing problems. I would like to know the list of medications she is taking, how well controlled her ankylosing spondylitis is and her present complaints to help you better.
