My mom is age 64 diabetic patient .last 10 days back her thigh got burnt by steam of boiling water ,she got big balloon shaped boils with water inside it. We applied silver nitrate cream followed by cefadroxil tablets ,vitamin c tablet. After 4 days it has been observed boils are broken .bt now after 10 days one big part is releasing transparent sticky fluid .wound is completely wet .rest portion is dried .how to cure and heal that wet portion faster and what medication is need to take .pls suggest.

After rupture of burn blister there are chances of infection hence it need proper care in the form of cleaning, dressing,systemic antibiotics and strict control of blood sugar in diabetic patients. Better to consult a doctor nearby.

Dear lybrate-user, it appears that she had second degree burns and there is a large raw area yet to heal. Sterile vaseline dressings are available. Firs you need to clean the area with soap and warm ater. Once dry apply steril vaseline gauze and apply a dressing whic willl stay in place. If dressing gets wet change the dressing. I assume she does not have fever to indicate an infection please make sure that her diabetes remains under very good control monitor sugars with a glucometer, fasting and post breakfast on wednesday and 2 hour post lunch and 2 hour post dinner on sunday and maintain a record. Fasting value should be < 120 mg/dl and the post meal values should all be < 160 mg/dl. If the raw area is large it may take upto 6 weeks to heal. If there are problems with sugar control on her present medication get back to us.
