Hi sir I had fungal infection for the past 6 months and I am having miconazole for 1 month and there is no improvement. When I took blood test, my ggt and alt level was around 100. Now I was prescribed with itraconazole. I had no hep b and c virus. I was non alcoholic. What's the reason for my elevated levels. If antifungal medicine may be the reason, what can I do next?

Hi! elevated or altered lft parameters can be seen in many conditions. Can be due to hepatotoxic drugs, or else due to due fatty liver, infections etc. You need to consult physician for this deranged condition. Hi! fungal infections are in the rise for past 2 years all india. Fungus became very intelligent and stubborn and making people suffer like anything. Fungus is not responding like before. All precautions like washing clothes in hot water, drying up from hot sun, ironing all clothes .avoid wearing jeans and tight fitting clothes .take care of pets if you have. Cut your nails regularly to prevent reservoir of fungus. Take care of inner wear and foot spaces. Most important is using itraconozole in the right dosage and for proper duration can cure fungus in a better way. Please do follow up with us regularly and use complete course .if needed will advice blood tests. Please stop betnovate c oint or panderm, as it is a steroid cream and can increase fungal infections.

Alt level is considered significant when it is 4 to 5 times higher den its normal value. No need to worry in your case, just avoid oily foods. If fungal infection is diagnosed by a dermatolgist then continue taking itraconazole for 3 to 4 wks along with topical miconazole. Keep the area clean and dry, wear cotton clothes. Follow up with consultant dermatologist. Take care. Thanks.
