Thank you for detailed reply. I am consuming 15-20 salty pistachio and 2-3 walnuts in breakfast and two whole boiled eggs 2 hrs before sleep at night. Does any these are harmful or increase sugar level? As I am on completely no sugar diet. I take 60 ml tea without sugar in breakfast with 3-4 suji rusk. And non veg once or twice per week not much 200 gms at once. No junk food no fried food no butter and ghee. Rice once or twice per month. Regards. Question: I am on metformin 500 mg twice a day my fasting sugar level is 92 and pp level is 164. Do I have to change medicine? Your answer :hello, thanks for the query. I have seen the information mentioned. Your glucose levels are quite good, so no need to change the medication. However, looking at your weight and height, with a bmi of 40.83 kgs/sq meter, you are in morbid obesity category. Your ideal body weight should be about 56 kgs. Which means there is an excess of 42 kgs. This is the major culprit for your high blood glucose. Even if you reduce about 10 to 15 kgs the glucose levels will come down drastically. Because of excess body fat there is lot of fat stored around vital organs like liver, pancreas, kidneys and stomach. This causes insulin resistance. In such situation in spite of having adequate enough insulin there is no proper glucose control hence reducing fat is very vital. If you have any questions please do come back/ thanks.
