Hello! i'm 25 years old female, weight around 78 kg, height 5 ft5 in. I had tested for tsh in 2018 that time result was 25, so doctor prescribed me thyronorm 100 mcg. In between for some reason I missed taking medicine, and later after testing tsh, the test result came as 50. So again I started with thyronorm 100 mcg. Now in 2020, october I tested for tsh and it is in normal range that is 0.51. So now i'm not sure what dosage medicine should I take? I also have pcod, because of which my weight is not normal.

Hello, thanks for the query. I have seen the details mentioned. When one is on adequate dosage of levothyroxine, tsh is usually maintained around 3 to 4 mu/l at which level most of the symptoms of hypothyroidism are in check. Since your tsh was high, dosage was increased. Now as the tsh has come down to lower limit of normal, it is necessary to reduce levothyroxine by 12.5 mcg. So you will have to shift to 87.6 (88 mcg) per day. Then after 6 weeks please do the test again to see if tsh has returned to expected level. Tablets of that particular strength are available. If you have any questions please do come back. Thanks.
