I am 25 years old female. I started using carbimazole 5 mg (endocrinologist prescription) in 2018. Now my ft4 levels are normal (around 1.8 ng/dl. But my tsh level is always at 0.007 microiu/ml. My tsh level does not rise. Why is this? Do I need to change the doctor? Will I not be able to get pregnant?

Yes, you will be able to get pregnant if there is no other problem. Your hyperthyroid is not controlled with this dose and need to increase it. Discuss with your treating physician.

Hello, Thanks for the query. I have seen the details mentioned. Only FT4 is not so much important. TSH has to come up also total T4 level also needs to be checked. The very fact that TSH is still 0.007mU/L, shows you have still a very strong hyperactivity of thyroid gland. TSH has to come up to 2 to 4 mU/L range. The hyperactivity has to be completely brought in control. If you are on treatment for over 2 years then please talk to your doctor and find out if other options like Radio Iodine cna be used. That will literally result in complete hypothyroidism which can then be treated with Levothyroxine. Pregnancy is not likely to happen in the present situation. Thanks.
