With t3 135, t4 8.5,tsh 3.46 values should I continue taking thyronorm 25? I was been suggested this medicine by one doctor few years back due to sudden weight gains. Weight is more compared to that time when doctor had prescribed this medicine. Later I had discontinued it as another doctor asked me to saying I have no thyroid problem. I am still facing weight gain even after proper dieting and proper exercises. Please suggest on above. Thanks.

Weight gain is not always directly related to hypothyroidism. First stop your thyronorm for one month. Then check two tests 1. T3t4 tsh 2.anti tpo test then contact me by paid audio consultation.

Continue taking medicine becaus your thyroid functions are normal and that is due to medicine.

Dear lybrate-user, it looks like your weight problem is not related to any thyroid dysfunction. If your tsh is 3.6 after stopping thyronorm, then you do not need the tablet. I suggest that you go on a paleo diet and exercise 1 hour per day. Monitor your weight once a month. The ideal weight for your height of about 164 cm (5'4") would be about 60-65 kg. You can find details on vegetarian or non-vegetarian paleo diet on the internet or alternatively you can consult a dietitian for the same professor m s seshadri.
