I am suffering from complex hemorrhagic cyst from past 1 month. Before this I had partial laparoscopy for endometriosis. Dr. put me on novelon for 1 month nd after tht they told me to take digest 2 mg for 1 month. Meanwhile they suggested me to go for mirena for 7 years. I want to know is it safe to stop periods for 7 years. What are the side effects of using mirena? Can I continue novelon or digest for 7 years rather than mirena?

Since you have endometriosis, the best treatment is to stop the periods for control of symptoms. Mirena achieves that without resorting to surgery. There are no side effects of stopping periods, it will be like a menopause. Mirena has side effects like spotting or pelvic pain but are usually uncommon. If you wish to continue medical treatment instead, go for dienogest as novelon may not suit you for prolonged periods considering your age.
