My age is 58 ,two months back diagnosed, hypothyroidism, doctor prescribed 125 mcg, thyronorm,now the tsh value is 0.03,wanted to continue the same dosage. Is this correct or dosage to be reduced.

Hello, thanks for the query. I have seen the details mentioned. Usually with adequate dosage of levothyroxine tsh should ideally be maintained around 3 to 4 mu/l to remain free from all the symptoms of hypothyroidism. Since tsh now is 0.03 mu/l means it is low. You should have mentioned the t4 value also, that would have given a clearer picture. In any case you have to reduce the dosage by at least 12.5 to 25 mcg per day. Then check tsh or thyroid profile again after 6 weeks to see if necessary changes have taken place or not. If you have any questions please do come back. Thanks.
