Hello, thanks for the query. Madam, I have seen the details mentioned. I only understand that you have hyperthyroidism and on treatment with neo-mercazole 5 mg tablet (how many times a day is not mentioned), no tsh and t4 levels given. As regards the weight gain, in hyperthyroidism weight is lost. Only when the disorder is in proper control there may be a bit of weight gain. By appropriate treatment in some persons it is curable. Usually after 18 to 24 months of treatment the gland function may become normal (in some). If disorder recurs after stopping the treatment then other measures are to be used to control it like radio active iodine or surgery. If you have any questions please do come back. Thanks.

In hyperthyroid status you need to avoid iodine containing food like iodised salt etc., The food items like fish, egg yolk etc., you need not stop completely but only avoid excessive consumption. The body looking slim is the nature of the hyperthyroidism. You need to keep the thyroid levels normal to gain weight. As for food take protein containing food like dal, non-veg etc., As for exercises easy and simple one is walking and jogging. Is facility available you can do weight training to build muscles. As of now we do not have anything to completely cure the condition but we can keep it under control with medication. So the medicines you need to take life long. Hope this has answered your concern.
