Symbicort or any other mdi /pump / dry powder inhaler has low dose corticosteroid it may increase weight but not to a large extent. Weight loss diet programme can help. Alternatives are usually when asthma cannot be controlled by symbicort like biologics, other mdi pumps / dpi you shouldn't stop any pump or mdi or symbicort / dpi it helps to prevent future exacerbations and chest tightness wheezing coughing breathlessness caused due to asthma.

Symbicort/ inhalation steroids causing cushings is less known side effect. Unless if it is used with other liver enzyme inhibitors that itself is not common.
