My mom is 47. She has hypothyroidism for so long and now she's using thyronorm 125 mcg. In the report today, t3 is 0.9 (ref. Interval: 0.8 - 2.3), t4 is 8.5 (ref. Interval: 4.8 - 12.0) and tsh is 0.1 (0.35 - 5.5). Does she need to decrease the dosage or continue with 125 mcg?

Dosage needs to be reduced to 100 mcg immediately. Monitor by blood test every 2 months till tsh level is around 2.5 to be maintained at that level by blood test every 3 months subsequently. Preferably be under supervision of your family doctor.

Hello, thanks for the query. I have seen the details given. Her tsh level is definitely lower than lab limit mentioned. Hence, it is better if dosage is reduced by 12.5 mcg to 112.5 mcg per day. Please remember after reducing the dosage (after every dosage change) there is need to check thyroid profile after 6 to 8 weeks to see if the desired change is achieved. In a well controlled patient tsh should remain around 2 to3 or 4 mu/l and t4 in normal range. If you have any questions please do come back. Thanks.
