Follow these steps: 1. Brush your teeth twice daily. 2. Use soft bristled brush and apply gently pressure on your teeth and gums while brushing. 3. Floss your teeth once daily. 4. Brush your tongue after you finish brushing your teeth. 5. Visit your dentist every 6 months for routine check-up. If this doesn't help you then you need scaling (professional cleaning) and polishing of your teeth. Visit a dentist for that.

This might be because the plaque has been depositing for quite a long time and hence has hardened in to calculus which is unable to clean by normal brushing. Do get professional cleaning done at a dental clinic soon. After that maintain good oral hygiene by brushing properly and regularly twice daily.

Dear Lybrate user, plaque and calculus deposits are hard and don't diminish by brushing. You need to consult your dentist and get a professional cleaning/scaling done. Plaque build up, if untreated, can lead to gum disease.

Hi For better looking teeth, the first and most important thing is that you teeth should be clean, and free from plaque (accumulated food debris) and stains. For that, you must get professional scaling/cleaning done from a dentist. The tooth brush cannot reach all the surfaces of every tooth and therefore some areas remain unclean. Over time, the soft food debris hardens and turns into a more adherent, hard form called calculus, which can be removed only be a professional dentist. Also, along with cleaning of the teeth, antibacterial mouth washes are generally prescribed. For more specific answers, kindly consult me privately on librate. Regards.
