Dear Lybrateuser, - It depends on the blood tryglyceride levels if it is high then you have to take medication - if borderline high then you have to take dietary precautions, do regular exercise & most importantly loose weight - have more of fibrous food like fruits & vegetables, whole grains like wholewheat bread/ chapati, brown rice, oats, legumes, beans, sprouts, nuts, have healthy fats as in fish like Salmon, tuna, mackeral, use cooking oils like olive oil, canola, sunflower, peanut oil, avocado, mixed nuts (handful only per day) - avoid fried, processed & junk food, also avoid alcohol & smoking - do regular exercise like brisk walking, jogging, swimming, playing a game for 30-40 min, lift moderate weights at least twice a week, also do yoga, deep breathing for 5-10 min daily morning - check your BP, sugar, cholesterol, triglyceride levels regularly, if your levels come down then consult your treating doctor regarding continuation of medicines.
